Her love for jazz and Big Band music cannot be overlooked, and influences both her songwriting and her vocal style. She began writing her own songs in 2017, fusing traditional folk elements with the darkness and mystery of Southern Gothic storytelling. With Liza and the Wise Guys she has performed at the Florida Folk Festival in 20, as well as The Northside Stage, The Blue Tavern, Fifth and Thomas, Bird’s, Black Dog on the Square, and numerous private shows. In the performing arts, Eliza has been a singer since she was 12, first in musical theater and then in her three-piece folk band, Liza and the Wise Guys. She sells online and participates in local craft fairs and artist marketplaces. She works with acrylic gouache and watercolor, combining architectural details with flora and text, creating original paintings and greeting cards for all occasions. In addition to her photographic work, Eliza paints and designs for The Silk and Cotton Shop, which she owns and operates. She photographs digitally and on film, and draws on haute couture fashion photography from the 1940s and 1950s as well as traditional tin-type portrait styles from the 1860s and the composition of painted portraits from the 18th century. ![]() In the One Hundred Hats Project, The Interior Portrait Series, and a project entitled Portrait of a Woman, Eliza combines her love of vintage clothing, historic costuming, and interior design with self-portrait photography, creating images influenced by the work of Wes Anderson, Louise Dahl Wolfe, and Irving Penn. Her commercial photography was published in Flamingo Magazine’s inaugural issue in 2015, and she continues to photograph locally. During her time at Tallahassee Community College, she had her photographs publish in their literary magazine, the EYRIE as well as in the annual student exhibition in 2012 through 2015. She has had her photography featured in COCA’s 30 Under 30 exhibit in 2015, as well as in COCA’s annual juried art exhibit, Creative Tallahassee, at the Tallahassee Airport in 20.
